Victron charger Centaur Charger for 12 V batteries

The new Centaur battery charger range from Victron Energy was developed for worldwide use.
Compliance with general standards and input/output specifications are the main features of this new product range, designed by the renowned Dutch manufacturer. It was designed to meet both the CE marking requirements for Europe and the UL marking requirements for the United States.
The Centaur range automatically accepts an input range from 90 to 265 VAC 50/60 Hz. This means the units can be used all over the world.

Unlike other units with universal input capability, the Centaur range maintains full output power within the specified range.
The Centaur model also operates with an input of 90-400 VDC. This makes it a DC-DC charging converter that is perfect for an electronic diesel system. Among other things, the model features a fully automatic three-stage charging characteristic that ensures the batteries are fully charged every time, as well as three isolated charging outputs for multi-battery setups, making it suitable for most typical installations.

Durable unit, quality without compromise
Aluminium housing with epoxy powder coating, drip shield against condensation, and stainless steel mounting parts withstand the toughest conditions such as heat, humidity and salty atmospheres.
The circuit boards are safely protected against corrosion by an acrylic coating. Temperature sensors ensure that all power components operate within specified limits and, if necessary, the output current is automatically reduced under extreme conditions.

Universal 90 to 265 Volt input
All models operate without special adjustment in a voltage range from 90 V to 265 V at both 50 Hz and 60 Hz. This makes worldwide use possible, regardless of the voltage and frequency range of the local mains supply.

Three outputs, each with full output current
Three isolated outputs for simultaneously charging three battery banks. Each output delivers the full current.

Three-stage charging characteristic with temperature compensation
Centaur initially charges with constant current (bulk) until the charging current has dropped to 70% of the rated value
This is followed by a fixed four-hour constant voltage phase, at the end of which a float charge phase begins. The charging voltage is regulated via the internal temperature sensor (-2mV/°C per cell).
A DIP switch can be used to set the optimum charging voltage values for the respective battery types (e.g. flooded lead-acid battery, gel battery or AGM battery).
